Obituary

Two people have been killed, and 18 injured, in a shooting at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, according to multiple news sources. The suspected gunman is in police custody.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reports that police have identified the two victims as students of the school.

Bailey Holt, 15, who died at the scene.

Preston Cope, 15, who died at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Families, friends, and neighbors gathered for prayers and vigils at local churches.

“In the days ahead we are going to need each other’s help,” Impact Church pastor Chris Young told the Courier-Journal. “The grieving process is different for everyone. It could last a year or it can last a lifetime.”
