A very fine man, Sat next to him at the now departed UK Invitational during Christmas holidays. Cheerful. Modest. Enlightening. What anyone would call a nice guy. Accepted all compliments with a grateful and modest bearing. We will miss him and that great Five he was part of.

Talk about a role model in sports but the way he conducted himself in society really sets the stage for what a humble man he was.If parents of today's athletes want their children to model an athlete then watch Wah Wah Jones tapes.sympathies to the jones family and may you rest in peace Mr. Jones

You just can't beat those mountain boys! A lot of them have grown up UK fans and also a lot are perfect gentlemen! Sadly only a few have been stars at UK! But the main thing is their HEART was always in the right place, KENTUCKY! My Uncle Stuart Standafer drove a charter bus for years for Wah Wah and he said his boss was a good man!

I am an alumnus of Harlan High and played basketball there as well. I was always fascinated with Wah Wah and his career. I saw his picture everyday in the trophy case and thought how awesome it was that a mountain boy achieved the greatness he did. A legendary Kentuckian and American.

Wah, a great Kentuckian and friend. May peace be with his family.

To all of the Jones family: your Dad was of course, a gifted and talented athlete. He and your Mom were great friends or my parents, Betty and Joe Holland. What stories Dad would tell of the wonderful memories of playing and living together in Lexington and Indianapolis! You have been blessed to have him with you this long! My thoughts and rashers are with you! What a great and loving gentleman he was! I am sorry that I won't be able to be in Lexington. God bless you all! Love, Teresa Holland Bachman and Steve Bachman

I want to give my condolences to the entire Jones family. The state of Kentucky has lost one of its greatest native sons, and he will never be forgotten. Wah was always friendly and had time to chat a while. My late brother took me to see him play at old Alumni gym, and I was hooked for life on Big Blue Nation. He was one of my all time favorite players at Kentucky. Rest in peace.

As a native Harlan Countian, I've known of Mr. Jones (HHS' First All American)my entire life and had the honor of sitting next to him at the HS football all stars game the year Tim Couch was playing....We spoke of Harlan, the town, the people, and the High School, plus he was so willing to share his knowledge of football with me that evening....I will never forget it, as he is an iconic figure in both Harlan and Lexington. I am lucky to have called him my friend!! RIP my friend...until we meet again!! BBN

Everyone knew Wah Wah, but he took time to speak with and be cordial with the waiters and staff at the Coach House. I was a waiter there 35 years ago and remember with fondness the times when he and "Happy" Chandler would hold court there. Good times for sure. He is appreciated and will be missed.

I am blessed to have Wah Wah's son "Wah" as one of my best friends, and it is obvious that the class and character of the Jones family stands very tall. I wish I could have known Wah Sr. on a personal basis, but am so grateful for the incredible recognition that he brought to the University of Kentucky and the Commonwealth for many, many years.
