Therese Dodd Obituary
Sister Therese Dodd, OP, of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, died on November 15, 2014 in Siena Hall, Sparkill, NY. Born in the Bronx, NY on March 7, 1926, Therese was the daughter of John and Catherine Doolittle Dodd. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8, 1945 and received the name Sister John Angela. She professed her first vows in 1947 and her final vows in 1952. Sister earned a B.A. in Education from Manhattan College, NY and an MA in Business Education from the College of St. Rose, Albany, NY. During her professional life, Sister Therese ministered in the Brooklyn Diocese and the Archdiocese of New York. She taught at St. Teresa, Woodside, NY (1947-53); St. Anthony, Bronx, NY (1953-58); Cathedral HS, NYC (1968-71); Rosary Academy, Sparkill, NY (1974-78); Coleman HS, Hurley, NY (1988-89). She served as Business Manager and Treasurer at St. Helena Commercial HS, Bronx, NY (1958-68); St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY (1971-74); Sacred Heart Parish, Suffern, NY (1978-86). From 1986-1988 she was a staff member at Villa St. Joseph, Saugerties, NY and for twenty-one years she worked at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, NY in the Business Office. Upon her retirement she offered local community service at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. Sr.
Therese is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Dodd, Winter Park, FL; her nieces Joan Fabiano (Angelo), Red Bank, NJ; Eileen Hurler, Toms River, NJ; Maureen Clapperton (Dave), Marietta, GA; Ann Dodd (Patrick), Fort Myers, FL; her nephews Robert Stec (Linda), Vero Beach, FL; Jack Dodd; Thomas Dodd, Atlanta, GA. She was the proud aunt of many grandnieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Dominican Convent, Sparkill, NY on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:30am. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 3:30 to 7:30pm at the Convent, 175 Rte. 340, Sparkill, NY. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Sparkill. Arrangements by Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Dominican Sisters, at the above address, attention-Sister Mary Murray, President.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me".
