Lonnie Brooks

I met Lonnie in Hammond Indiana, he was doing an outside concert. He had on a cowboy hat. We met by chance, as I was a white guy from the outside. The more we spoke, The more friends we became as I told him about my guitar playing. He opened invited me to his house. He was very kind. I missed him but hope to meet his son's. I am near SouthSide. I made a studio in a house I now hope to sell.

Just found out Lonnie Baker Brooks pass away so sorry Ronnie and Wayne for your lose may God bless and keep you always.

I had the honour to meet and be the support band for the Lonnie Brooks Band in Adelaide Australia in the late '80s. After we'd done our sound checks Lonnie took everyone to the bar for drinks. Because he wasn't used to Australian money he kind of slid a 50 to the barmaid with a look of "don't hurt me if this isn't enough". She pushed it back and grabbed the 20 and told him this is the one you're looking for. Lonnie, Ronnie and the rest of the band were an inspiration to be around off stage...

Our heartfelt condolences to the Family of Mr Lonnie. Mr Lonnie was truly an amazing and compassionate gentlemen. Lonnie Brooks taught me how to hold a crowds attention. I modeled my singing after his for 20 years. A truly tragic loss. My heart out to Wayne, Ronnie and all his family.

What a legend and will be missed. His music woll live on as we await a future reunion as promised at John 5:28.

I met this great bluesman at Antone's in 1986 in Austin,Tx. He was very jovial, supportive and a true man of the blues. I'll miss him but am so thankful for his great music which we all shall enjoy forever!
