I shall miss not seeing you 'in action' - what a treat! Thank you, Louie, for all you have done for us; your recordings and writings will keep the world tapping and smiling for centuries to come. You and your music have enriched my life.

I've followed his career for a long time, also his late wife Pearl Bailey) I loved his Skin Deep. I had a chance to see him in person, when he came to Flint, Mi., a long time ago. Like Duke Ellington said, I also think he was the :greatest.

For Louie...a master musician who performed with such greats as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and his late wife, Pearl Baile.

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I was a freshman at UOP in Stockton and was playing viola in the Stockton Symphony when Louie and Pearl came and performed with us '79 or '80. I'm now the director of a Creative Arts School in Fresno. I love telling the story of how Louie directed from the center of the orchestra and Pearl chatted with me about college. They were an inspiration to me.

What a loss to everyone who enjoyed a drummer musician as Louie Bellson was.

My older son Rick was watching the new Beatles play and my then twelve year old son was glued to the tv monitor.

Asked my son if he would like to learn to play the drums, and he only shrugged his shoulders.

The very next day, I went to the music shop and bought him a brand new three piece drum set. I never had such a headache as I had all that evening.

However, now an adult and a professional drummer, his entire life revolves around his drums and music. He owned every instrument that I had bought for him, as he was growing up.

Music is his life, and how he would have loved to have met, or even seen, Louie Bellson play his drums!

He was a happy man, in in TUNE with happiness.

God Bless his memory

Louie Bellson will go down in history as being one of the finest drummers that GOD created. First and foremost a true gentleman who always always had a kind word to say to everyone he came in contact with. His drumming was superb in every sense of the word. Ask any musician who had the honor to work with Louie Bellson and they will express their upmost respect for this percusssion giant. If you combine god given talents that Louie had and wonderful personality that he exemplified you have the result of a fine fine musician. Louie Bellson will always remain in our hearts and his recordings and drum solos will remain a definite mark in jazz big bands small groups. We miss you Louie Bellson we will always love you Louie .

I will miss Louie because of his great talents and because he was a good person. I met Louie when I was younger and working at Disneyland. His band came through every year and he was always open to talking and very approachable. He and his wife, Pearl Baily, were so nice to me everytime I saw him. I hope you are in heaven doing a double bass drum solo! God Bless Louie Bellson! A great talent and man!
