Richard Wolf Obituary

Rev. "Parre" Richard C. Wolf, 84, of Fleetwood, died at home on Good Friday, March 25, 2016. He was the husband of Kathryn A. Wolf, whom he married June 9, 1985. Born September 9, 1931, at home in Hoppenville, PA, Bucks County; he was a son of the late Herbert R. and Estella (Moll) Wolf. "Parre" Wolf grew up on a small farm where the Pennsylvania Deutsch dialect was the normal language, and milking the cows and planting the crops were the framework of his days. He graduated from East Greenville High School and Muhlenberg College. Pastor Wolf then graduated from The Lutheran Theological Seminary, in Philadelphia, in 1956. He served as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Longswamp-Mertztown, PA; St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Newark, Del; St. James Lutheran Church, Coopersburg, PA; and Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oley. Pastor Wolf retired in 1993, only to return to work as an intentional interim pastor in nine calls, with his most distant call in Billings, MT. In his years of ministry, Pastor Wolf also served as chaplain of the United Racing Club, the Checkered Flag Fan Club, and the American Racing Driver Club. He found great joy in the "sport of speed" and the close relationship forged with many race drivers. Survivors: Pastor Wolf was blessed with nine children: Sandra L. Tillery-Wolf (1956-2015), Joseph W. Wolf, Beverly S. Connelly, William J. Price, Mary E. Morrison, Ann M. Wolf, Thomas R. Wolf, Morgan L. Eidelman, and Audrey A. Eidelman. Other survivors include two siblings: Jean Fulmer, of Schwenksville, and Herbert Wolf, of Green Lane. There are also 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Josh Van Kuren; and by two siblings: Dorothy E. Koons and Linford Wolf. Services: Wednesday at 11:00 am in Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1076 Memorial Highway, Oley, PA 19547. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of services in the Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Red Hill, Bucks County, at the convenience of the family. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friedens Evangelical Church at the above address. Pastor Wolf, you are missed deeply. Your kind, patient attitude, wise counsel, and genuine affection always helped me when I was needing spiritual advice or just needed to discuss life and its conundrums. I wish you were here now to help me deal with my brother's suicide and the aftermath of my dad's death. Rest well, Pastor Wolf. You earned it.

We are so sorry to hear of our friend's passing. We were in Luther League in our teen years at St Paul.s Lutheran in Red Hill. Dick drove out to Van N, Ca to see us for a week when Les was in the Army. We had many good times together.

Our deepest sympathy to parre's family. Another beautiful soul has gone to heaven. Parre was our pastor for many years at friedens Lutheran church in Oley. He married us back in 1988 and has touched us deeply with his kindness, sense of humor and his gentle laugh. I will miss his hugs and smiles. He was truly a genuine man, something rare and hard to find these days. Parre also touched the hearts of our daughters as they were growing up. He taught them Pennsylvania Dutch during the summer with my mother. He was always a kind face and a warm smile to them in church and as they grew he continued to take interest in their activities and spoke Pa Dutch to them to make them smile. He will be greatly missed. May all the good memories you share bring you comfort. God bless.

The induction banquet at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame will never be quite the same. Rev. Wolf made the long trek to Knoxville every year and was always happy to give the invocation before the meal. I always looked forward to his visits. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

My sincere condolences to the family of Pastor Wolf; I was confirmed by him in 1966 at St. James in Coopersburg. Pastor Wolf was also a volunteer driver for the Coopersburg Ambulance Corp. At the time and keeping with his "ministry of speed", if you wanted to get to the hospital fast, you wished the Pastor was behind the wheel..lol. RIP, Pastor.

Dear Wolf Family, My deepest thoughts and condolences and sympathy to all of you. According to my dad, we where distantly related, still haven;t found exactly how. Richard as the my pastor when I was a member at St. James' Lutheran Church in Coopersburg, where I lived. He also spoke
about his chaplaincy in the racing circut while I was Secretary of the Southern Lehigh jaycees. I remember coming to
the house on Station Avenue in Coopersburg, which was then across the street from the Post Office. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of loss. Earl Miller

My deepest sympathy and Christian love is extended to the entire family at this time of loss. I met Richard when I did a Basic Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Lehigh Valley Hospital the summer of 1984, and recall his kindness and gentle laugh. His death on Good Friday was remarkable. May the peace of the Risen Christ offer comfort and hope in the days ahead.
