John W. Saunders

1927 - 2014

NORTH RIDGEVILLE – John W. Saunders, 87, of North Ridgeville, passed away Saturday September 27, 2014 at the Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville following a long illness.
He was born January 16, 1927 in Wanda, West Virginia.
Mr. Saunders lived most of his adult life in North Ridgeville but after retiring, he also resided in New Port Richey, FL.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served from October 1, 1945 to September 30, 1948.
Mr. Saunders retired from the Ford Motor Company in Brook Park in 1983 where he worked on the assembly line for 30 years.
He was a member of Avon Church of God.
He enjoyed bowling, gardening and yard work.
After retiring, Mr. Saunders enjoyed painting office buildings.
Mr. Saunders is survived by; one daughter, Sandra Ice (Steve) of Lorain; one son, Ron Saunders (Trudy) of Ashland; five grandchildren, Rhonda and Chris Saunders, Joey Myers (Christine), Denise Westover (Charles) and Sheila Riggar (James); six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna and Shirley; four brothers, Clyde, Harold, Lester and Mickey; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (nee Ferrell) in 2006; by one son, Ricky; by his parents, Luther and Bertie Saunders; by one sister, Massiell; and by one brother, James.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 1, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.
Funeral Services will be Thursday October 2, 2014 at 10:00am from the funeral home. Rev. Joseph Kelley, pastor of Avon Church of God, will officiate.
Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
