CHARLES Richard Lightfoote CANANDAIGUA/GORHAM - Charles Richard "Dick" Lightfoote, 95, died on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Canandaigua. Burial will be in Gorham Cemetery. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Dick was born in Geneva and was the son of Lynn and Dorothy Kreppeneck Lightfoote. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1938 and married Ruth Goodwin in 1942. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dick worked with his father at Lightfoote's Garage in Geneva for several years. He retired from Gleason Works in Rochester in 1982. Dick attended First Congregational Church in Canandaigua and previously attended the Reed Corners Federated Church. He and his wife Ruth enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and spending winters in Florida. After retirement he discovered landscape oil painting and has left his family a legacy of beautiful art. Dick was an avid reader and baseball fan and produced wonderful vegetable gardens. He and Ruth enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s sports and school activities and were known by the kids' teammates and friends as Grandma and Grandpa Lightfoote. Dick is survived by his son, Charles D. (Nancy) Lightfoote; daughter, Marilyn (Donald) DeSmith; four grandchildren, Scott (Amanda) Lightfoote, Rachel (Adam) Rogers, Matthew (Michele) DeSmith and Suzanne (Jeremy) Kierst; six great-grandchildren, Morley and Finn Rogers, Morgan and Madelyn DeSmith and Griffin and Austin Kierst; cousins, Shirley DeCann and Rodney Frarey; and several nieces and nephews.
