To Sherry, Kyle, Laura, Grant, and all of William's family and friends and on behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), please accept our sincere condolences. May God bring to your hearts, peace, comfort, and healing. We are grateful for William's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service during the Cold War on the attack cargo ship USS Tulare AKA/LKA-112 1969, the Ashland-class dock landing ship USS Oak Hill LSD-7 MM3 1969, and submarine USS Sturgeon SSN-637 MM2(SS) 1971-74. To our “Brother of the Phin… Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."

So, heavenly Father add his name to the roll
Of our departed shipmates still on patrol.
Let them know that we who survive
Will always keep their memories alive.

Bless those who serve beneath the deep,
Through lonely hours their vigils keep.
May peace their mission ever be!
Protect each one, we ask of Thee.

Bless those at home who wait and pray
For their return by night and day.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
