Cherished father of Maureen and Kevin Barry, Kathleen and David Kaminsky, Sheila and John Lopez, James and Andrea Walsh, Annie and Scott Mitchell and Sean and Kim Walsh. Gene attended Manhattan College and then joined the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged after serving as a counter-intelligence agent in the OSI in Germany. Upon returning home, he met his future wife at a Sunday night Irish dance in Croke Park in the Bronx. They were married in 1960 and raised their family in Englewood, NJ. Gene believed in service to the community and was elected to the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 1964, serving until 1967. Mr Walsh,
A saint of a man . I once brought home his daughter after a night of drinking. She wasn´t herself that evening, during the day she hit her head on the JCC swimming pool and definitely wasn´t rt . Anyway it was pouring rain outside and it felt absolutely wrong to drop her off and not tell him what went on that day into the evening. He allowed me inside but didn´t let my friend in . I explained everything and he thanked me and respected that I came back to face any consequences. My friend was safe that´s all I cared about. Mr Walsh thanked me and I had a friend in Eugene Walsh for the rest of his lifeRIP my friend

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
