Timothy McGill Obituary

McGILL
Timothy Raymond, of Ramsey, NJ. It is with great sorrow that the McGill family announces the death of their son Timothy Raymond on September 21st. Tim was a life-long resident of Ramsey, NJ where he played junior football and was active in the DARE Street Hockey Program as well as the Ramsey Ice Hockey Association. In his junior year of high school, Tim attended the New Jersey State Police Trooper Youth Week where his sense of patriotism and military standards were formed. Tim graduated Ramsey High School in 2001 and immediately went right into the Marine Corps. He was in Boot Camp at Parris Island when the 9/11 attacks occurred and he saw action as a machine gunner in the infantry in the second battle of Fallujah while with the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force. After coming home from Iraq, Tim joined the Ramsey Fire Department as a volunteer fireman. Also, he decided that he wanted to continue his service to this country and joined the Rhode Island National Guard because they have a Special Forces Unit. Tim passed the initial phase of the training called Selection which enabled him to pursue his Green Beret. Tim underwent an extremely rigorous training sequence that typically sees an 80% drop out rate. Tim succeeded in the training and was proudly awarded his Green Beret in May of 2011. Soon thereafter he was stationed at Fort Myers in the State of Washington and was deployed to the jungles of the Philippines as part of a Special Forces successful rescue mission. In between these deployments Tim would come home and serve as a volunteer fireman in his home town of Ramsey. In January of 2013 he was assigned to the 1st Group Special Forces and was deployed to Afghanistan where he was killed by enemy gunfire on September 21st. Tim received 28 valor awards including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He is survived by his loving family, parents, Ray and Carol of Ramsey, sisters Megan and Lindsay and her husband Brian Vanderbeek of Mahwah and their two beautiful grandchildren, Savanna and Presleigh, Grandmother Catherine McGill of Ridgewood, Uncles Tim McGill and his wife Tina of Ramsey, Uncle Robert and his wife Huguette, Uncle Robin of Norwood, NJ and pre-deceased wife Linda, Uncle Aldo Nervegna and his wife Melanie and cousins, Nick Nervegna and his wife Alexandra of Valley Cottage, New York and Kristen Gallagher and her husband Robert of Nanuet, New York, Jessica Rickart and her husband Jake of Lowell, Michigan, Jennifer McGill and her son Jackson of Lowell, Michigan, Joel McGill of Lowell, Michigan, Ryan Gutherie and his wife Bridget and their son Cole of River Vale, NJ, Keith Gutherie and his wife Julia of Ridgefield, New Jersey. Services will be as follows: wake Wednesday and Thursday from 10 AM-7 PM at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church located at 200 Wyckoff Ave, Ramsey, NJ and mass will be at 11 AM on Friday, October 4th also at St. Paul's Church. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Wounded Warriors Fund and/or the Pit Bull Rescue. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. Hello my name is Timothy Peacock. I do not know Timothy Mcgill personaly, but I was reading what the people who knew him said about him. From what I have read, and it seems that everyone who he was in contact with had great memories of him when he was gone. I am here to say what he did for this country will never be forgotten. He was protecting us and that should always be remembered. I hope that you are making it through this time of sadness, and that Tim did what he thought was right to protect the people he loved.

Dear Carol and Ray,

My deepest, deepest, condolences to you and all your family on this tragic loss.

Each time my cousins Joe and Kim Careri would speak of Tim the room would light up.
We met once at Dinallo's and Tim was a center of conversation. He was a great man.

This tragic loss of such a fine human being is something that can never be replaced.

Our nation has suffered a great loss.

He was one of the greatest men that I never had the honor to meet.

Sorry for your tragic and irreplaceable loss.

God Bless Tim's soul and his memory shall live forever.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Timothy will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

To the family of Army Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill,

Since 2009, our football team has dedicated each one of our games to a fallen hero, who was killed supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. Our tributes are a special part of our program. Tonight, we will be playing in honor of Timothy. I know that this is a very difficult time for your family, but I hope you find joy knowing that Liam continues to inspire others... including a small town football team in Virginia. God bless and take care.
