Manning
DOYLESTOWN -- Daniel C. Manning, age 66, passed away on April 24, 2016.
Retiring from his favorite job at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and fighting forest fires, Dan was proud to have served our country as a Marine during the Vietnam War. Family and friends were his most precious gifts. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling, motorcycle riding, watching old western and Elvis movies, and attending summer concerts. He especially cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Dan was interested in history. He was a trustee for the Rogues Hollow Historical Society, and was a member and volunteer at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.
He is survived by those who love him and will miss him: his wife of 43 years, Colleen; sons, Keith and Jonathan (Stephanie) Manning; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Ryan and Mia; mother, Gladys Manning; brothers, Ted (Delores), Tim, Mike (Jill), Rick (Diane), Matt (Jackie); sisters, Becky (Mike) Durbin, Mary (John) Potter; mother-in-law, Doraine Armbruster; in-laws, Judy (Ned) Chatelain, Kathy Cronin, Pam (Mike) Zsely, Jan (Ted) Towsley, "brother" Tim; many special nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Dick and his brother, Jay.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Barberton, 44203, with Fr. Robert Jackson, celebrant. Military Honors immediately following mass. Inurnment with family to take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown 44230. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rogues Hollow Historical Society, P.O. Box 283, Doylestown, OH 44230. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com.

Dan was my work leader at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, he was a great person to work with and for. We became friends and enjoyed golfing and bowling together as well dining and shows with our wives. I will miss Dan very much, he was like a brother and I have been very fortunate to have known him. RIP

I have many fond memories of golfing with Dan. Dan's love of family was evident in stories he regaled us with. Dan was a great guy and I am very truly sorry for your/our loss.

Peg and I worked side by side with Dan on the trails in CVNP for many, many years. We are very saddened to hear of his passing and our thoughts are with his family now. Although we can not be there in person, we want his family to know we are there in spirit, to knowledge all Dan's hard work over the years making CVNP the special place it is.

Dan and I worked together for all his years he was with the N.P.S. He was a enjoyable positive individual that made my life better by knowing and talking with him. I am truly sorrowed with his passing.
