I fondly remember Dr. Lewandowski from my training days at the old Brentwood Hospital. He was always pleasant and cared about students, interns, and residents. He embodied the physician we wished to emulate. Thank you for the example you set.

My sweet husband, Ernie, was the light of my life & the center of my universe! I adored him from the moment I met him & feel very lucky to have been his wife. He taught me what true love really was & told me he loved me every night of our marriage. He made me laugh, right up to his last day on this earth. I will miss him every single day, for the rest of my life.
Rest in Peace, Sweetheart..."Well done, Good & Faithful Servant" (Matthew 25:21)

I don't remember the first time I met Dr. Lew, in part because he was a family friend from my childhood. As others have noted, he had a terrific sense of humor and was the kind of doctor that became a confidant and trusted friend who always looked out for your best interest.
My father is also named Ernie. The two Ernies were quite a pair. There are many happy and funny memories of those years at Berkshire Hills.
When my brother, who is also named Ernie, married Dr. Lew's youngest daughter, Denise, we were overjoyed. Three Ernies, each holding a big piece of my heart.
God rest you, Dr. Lew. Peace to everyone grieving your departure.

Rest in peace Uncle Ernie. You were loved by many in this life and will be missed. Our favorite memory of Uncle Ernie is on our wedding day, he grabbed Ron right before the ceremony and told him it's not too late! Run! Here's my credit card and the keys to my vette, you still have time to get away! And we always laughed about that which we think would make him happy. He was there for Dianne when she was so ill, always kind and caring. We loved him, rest in peace, and our sympathy to Tom, Denise, Greg, Phil, Jeff and their families. May God bless you with peace and comfort.

I will miss you grandfather. I will never forget your laugh or your smile. You helped so many people throughout your life and now its your time to rest peacefully. I can't thank you enough for raising my dad so well. I know he learned how to be a great father from you and now a grandfather. I am sorry you did not have a chance to meet your great granddaughter but I believe you are in heaven preparing her for her life ahead. We love you very much and can't wait to see you again.

Dr.Lew was one of a generation of Dr's back
from the 50's and 60's that truly cared
about treating and healing his patients.
Taking the time to listen to them.
And being a true D.O. whose motto is
to treat the entire body. People who
were his patients were lucky to have him
as their Dr. He wasn't about the money
like now but being a Dr.
about him no matter how long a day
or tired he might have been. May he enjoy
everlasting peace.

I was so saddened to learn of the passing of "Dr.Lew". He was a very caring and compassionate doctor in all the times I needed to visit him for treatment. Everyone is so right, he always had a smile on his face and when he entered the room you felt so much better even if you were sick. My deepest sympathy to all his family and may he rest in God's loving care for all time. He was a good man.

It's so nice to see all of the kind words said about my dad. He was a mentor to me. He taught me to be a good person which in turn made me a better husband, a good father and, any day now, a loving grandfather. He lived a long and full life, and lived it on his own terms. I'm glad I was able to tell him "I love you" one last time before he passed.
I love you dad and I'll miss you every single day.

It's so gratifying to see the nice comments people are making. This is a man I am proud to call "Dad". He taught me to be a man, a better husband, a good father and, any day now, a great Grandpa. I will sorely miss him, but I know that he led a good life on his terms.
I love you Dad and I'll miss you.

Always There
People can empathize.
But they will never know.
Your pain, your grief, yours alone.
What can be said to comfort?
What respite can be offered?
He was yours and you were his.
In Love those facts will always remain true.
His countenance you will carry.
His heart will be there too.
And so too you are with him.
