Gerald Gaydash Obituary

Gerald L. Gaydash Jr. "Jerry"

Gerald Lee Gaydash Jr. "Jerry", age 52, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 27 years, Shannon (Dean); children, Sara and Jerry III; grandsons, Jerry IV and Sylas; parents, Jerry and Joan (Amendolar); siblings, Justine (Carl Lakatos), Jean (Jim Markham), and Joel; grandmother, Stella (Raschel); many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Born in Akron on April 1, 1962, Jerry excelled on the football field at St Vincent-St Mary High School where he received the Wentz Award (1980) and was inducted into the Hall of Fame (2006). He attended Eastern Michigan University where he received the James M. "Bingo" Brown award for outstanding offensive player (1984) and where he met his wife. While working at Gaydash Industries Inc. (1987-present) he settled his family in Canal Fulton and raised the children he was so proud of. His favorite place was in the woods, hunting. He was a good husband, good father, good grandfather, good son, good friend. Per his request, no services will be held.

"Going to the woods is going home." - John Muir

Played football with Jerry at EMU' 84. In reflection, it was a real honor--he was and will always be a class act. Mark Peterson (Defensive Tackle)

My family and I are truly sorry for your loss.
I met Jerry for a short period of time but I only have good memories of him as a great son, brother, husband and loving father.
Quiet and funny at the same time is how I will always remember him.
One of the strongest people I have ever met in and out.
The most sincere condolences from Costa Rica.

Jerry, Joan and family.

Big Hugs to all our heart felt condolences.

In life there are no guarantees! Hard work, Friendships and Great Memories are three things that sustain us.
Jerry exemplified all of these.

The Gaydash family taught us all how to live life and have fun. (Trap 2 up the middle there goes Jerry for another score) but that memory would not be complete without senior sounding the siren from the stands.
What great memories of Jerry our teammate.
He will always be remembered as the gentle giant. Its with heavy hearts today but a profound Thank you! for sharing Jerry with us.

Its through the grace of god we can even begin to comfort this lose. So so sorry!

Blessing,

Tim & Teresa Rickus STVM Class of 80

I heard about Gerry today, I am devastated. I remember "Dash" ripping off 60 -80 yard runs and just looking up and watching him blow through a hole. He was a great teamate and friend and will be missed.

To the entire Gaydash family, my heartfelt sorrow over your loss. I have so many wonderful memories of Ocean City vacations with you. It seems like just yesterday. I wish I could hug each one of you! I'm praying for all of you, and today, I weep with you. Jerry was kind, full of laughter, and dearly loved his family. I pray God's perfect peace for each one of you as you grieve. I hope it comforts you to know that you do not grieve alone.
