Dr Trout was my guidance counselor at Ardmore High....I enrolled during the summer of 1963 after serving 4 years in the Navy. Dr Trout called men to his office to discuss my ACT exam. He sat there staring at my result and I became impatient and asked "how'd I do' "you'll never be a Doctor" Of course he was right.

Roy Troutt demonstrated what made his generation great. Instead of seeking quick+easy solutions to what ailed this institution, he committed himself to ideals that would take years to produce results. He responded, not reacted, to the challenges and critics, and he put the college on a course for success. He understood what loyalty, commitment, integrity, patience and tenacity produce. May he rest in peace.

I have such fond memories of Roy Troutt both as my Ardmore Jr. High science teacher and, with his lovely wife Ruth, as a member of the First Presbyterian church there. My sympathies to the Toutt family.

I am sorry that I am unable to pay my respects by attending the memorial service for Dr. Troutt. His accomplishments are impressive and his legacy will continue throughout eternity but my memories of him are of a very personal nature. My mother was physically and mentally ill and she frequently did things that were very embarrassing to me as a 16 year old. After she had called his office one day, he came to my class and took me for a coke and listened to "my side of the story." He showed compassion and concern and to my amazement he believed me. He taught me a life lesson that day that I have passed along to others throughout my life.
Thankfully, just last month I was able to express my love and appreciation for his living example to me, to many in the AHS class of 1960 and to so many others in his life. My prayers and sympathy go to his family and friends. Dr. Troutt you will be missed!

Dr. Trout was an inspiration to each and every life he touched. He lead by example. He was our principal for six years but our precious friend for many years. The class of 1960 kept in touch with him and shared many lovely visits. What a gift he gave us by being our friend. He will be truly missed by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today and all the days to come.

Dr. Troutt was a true president, that always had a smile on his face and his doors were always open to the students on campus. I will always remember that white haired gentleman that always had a smile and spoke to me every morning when I passed his way.... You will be truly missed by the USAO alumni. May you rest in peace and your family is in my thoughts and prayers! Alumni - 1984

He taught us to think that we were special and that all things could be possible with some hard work, perseverance and goals. He led by example always and his Ardmore class of 1960 will forever be grateful for his guidance and so proud to have called him our dear friend.
Thank You Again Dr. Troutt

Dr. Troutt was so loved by the Ardmore High School Class of 1960 because he was our principal for six years......through Jr. High and High School. He knew each of us personally and guided us with love, care and firmness. What he taught us is to feel, taste, smell, and experience every moment as it happens and to really value whatever blessing is before us at that moment. His story was a best seller that will forever be immortalized on the hearts of us all. His legacy will carry on. He will remain forever young and forever a hero to those of us who loved him. Thank you Dr. Troutt for touching our lives and being a gift to so many.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Troutt for many years, during my tenure as News Director at KWCO. He always went out of his way to provide me with the information that I had requested. He treated each and evey person as a personal friend, and he will be remembered as a kind, and caring "friend"
