I worked with Janey for several years for the Athens Symphony. I found her extremely helpful and very detail oriented. She knew exactly how to do money oriented procedures regarding the Symphony for the betterment of the Symphony and its members. I did not know of her death until I saw the Athens Symphony program for their Fall Concert. To her family, I pray that you have had time to lessen the grief that you experienced at her death. May you be comforted with the knowledge that she was well loved by many people in the Athens Community. Rest in Peace thy good and faithful servant. You will be missed by many.

Returning to town after several weeks away, it was hard for me to believe that Ms. Janey is no longer with us. She was such a fixture at First American and with all sorts of community groups. Her sense of humor and straight talk were a breath of fresh air. The Clarke County Mentor Program appreciated her support as a mentor and a board member.

I am sorry to say that I did not learn of the passing of Ms. Janey until after the memorial, so I wasn't able to attend. My heart goes out to the family. Keep the good memories of her in your heart. I have had the pleasure of working with her for the past nine years on our Senior Leadership Academy at ACCA. She always put forth her best effort at whatever she did and made it professional. I will truly miss her.
Ms.Janey was a genuine individual. She always said what she meant and meant what she said.

Janey was one of a kind. She was a humble woman who served her community to the fullest of her ability. Literally to the day God took her. She was kind. At times she spoke her mind, and you listened. I myself have morphed back to a toddler while she "corrected" me on my "opinions" of one thing or another. I feel privileged to have known her my entire life. I will remember her always.
Love Always,

Ms Cooley was my mentor from the time I was in third grade until well after I graduated College. She was there for me. She taught me, provided for me, cared for me. My relationship with her was one of the two longest, positive relationships I had that begun in childhood. I miss her dearly and will hold her in my heart always. LoveLove and condolences from the Sorrow familyfamily.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Janey's death. To Bill and family - our most sincere condolences. Jo and I have had the pleasure of doing business with Janey in her role as Trust Executive Officer at the bank for a number of years. In fact we can say that up until her recent hospitalization she had not lost a step. Her mental acuity was sharp as ever and her wit as dry as ever. We will miss Janey immensely.

Janey was a special person in many different ways. To me she was a friend, mentor, confidant, teacher and more. I'm unable to attend her memorial service, so I will reflect on all that she meant to so many people. Sorry we didn't get that last Varsity run, Janey. Will lift my next chili dog in your memory. Rest well, my friend.

A friend shared with me the passing of Janie and I was so sorry to hear the news. Janie's was a cousin and we kept in touch until a couple of years ago. She was one of my last connections with Athens. My father was her great uncle and I have some pleasant memories of being at her mother's home in the years past. Janie was a lovely person in her own right. My condolences to her brother, Billy and his family and to the other cousins in Athens. She will be missed.

I worked as Ms. Cooley's secretary in the Trust Dept. at C&S Bank. She was a very nice person. She always dressed so nicely and never once did she have a bad hair day. Everytime I saw Ms. Cooley after I left the Bank, would always greet me with a wonderful heartfelt "Hello". She was a wonderful person. May she RIP. God has called home another Angel.

What a loss. As a trust officer, Miss Janey Cooley helped individuals and their families often during difficult times. She was a skilled professional with a superior work ethic, but what set her apart was her genuine concern for her clients and their families. I admired and respected her. RIP, Miss Janey.

I had the great pleasure of interviewing Janey twice for articles I wrote for Athens Magazine several years ago. She was one of my favorites. Her stories of old Athens -- the people and places -- were priceless. The Athens community has lost a great treasure. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends.

Janey was one of the original members of the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission in 2011. Her passion for the arts, determination to make the commission successful, and her wise perspectives made her role very important to our moving forward in a positive manner. Her gift for giving will be missed by the Athens community.

I knew Janey for over forty years. I was mentored by her from the first time we spoke. We worked together in trust departments at two different banks about forty years, I learned to love her deeply as a "boss" and a dear friend. Even in my retirement, not hers for she continued to work for our customers until she couldn't any more, we stayed close. She encouraged me in pursuing my interests each time I saw her. Her love reached out to my children when they were small and later included their families as well. I saw her living her Christian faith in God every day. I feel blessed for having had her in my life all these years and shall miss her greatly. I am praying for Bill and all of the girls (nieces) to feel the arms her friends surround them now in their grief. She will be missed not only by me but by our community. Her heart for others will leave a very large hole. God be with you all.

Janey was a friend and mentor to so many of us. Quick witted, honest and true to her word - she was a leader of leaders. Her personal committment to this community was immeasurable. She was an inspiring presence, always. So proud to have known her - heartbroken to have lost her.
