In late 60's early 70's in Tipton, Cal. at Gem State Stables, one of his Dads races, we had such fun times hanging out w/horses & envious of his Mustang Shelby. FAST forward & I have raised my kids, realized a successful career, & now realized a dream to be a owner. Still in Tulare Co., still friends w/ the Schott brothers. I regret I never saw him again when he left Tipton, but the passion for our sport was ignited & furthered by his passion. May God Bless & carry his beautiful family forward.

My heart felt thoughts are with Mikes family.I got to know Mike a number of years back when he trained horses for some very good friends. The one memory that stands out besides tho obvious "winning"ways of Mike was his total devotion to Denise and his daughters. He will be missed by many.

I would like to add another perspective about Mike that not too many people were aware of.

When Mike was about 16 years old he was introduced to Drag Racing. He also loved taking photos of the race cars in action. Mike would show up at Lion's Drag Strip in Long Beach every Saturday night. One of his favorite photo locations was lying on the edge of the track and shooting the cars as they accelerated past him. Pretty harrowing, but he got some great photos.

Mike became a favorite to many of the racers participating there. One of Mike's favorite teams was a car called "The Mangler". The car was owned by Danny Broussard, Stump Davis, and John Garrison. The driver was Danny Ongias, who later went on to be a famous Indy Car and Formula One driver. They would take Mike with them whenever they traveled to other race tracks, so he was definitely part of the team.

The best part of the story is that Mike and his Drag Racing buddies never parted company. Over the years we all kept in touch. Mike enjoyed going to the Pomona NHRA Nationals and the NHRA Reunion in Bakersfield, and we always made sure that he had passes for those events.

All in the "racing fraternity" wi8ll remember Mike with great affection, and we send our sincere sympathy and condolences to his family and all others whose lives he touched.

Mike was a great horseman, but more important to me he was a great friend. We had a lot of laughs together that I shall always cherish. Mike had one of the great laughs of all time. My sincere and deepest condolences to Denise and the girls.
