Joseph Vash Obituary

Vash, Joseph SAN DIEGO-- Joseph Vash, 94, San Diego resident since 1963, passed away Oct. 11, 2014 in Snowflake, AZ. A three war Navy Veteran: WWII, Korea and Vietnam, born June 13, 1920 in Bath, PA, Joe enlisted in the Navy on June 23, 1942. He was a parachute rigger and retired as a Chief after 28 years. He was stationed on ten US Ships, and received many medals including the Navy Commendation, American Campaign, Victory WWII, Navy Occupation Service Europe, China Service, Korean Service, United Nations Service Korea, and Vietnam Campaign. He retired Fed Civil Serv at NAS North Island in 1982. Joe married Flora Rose McDonald in Fitchburg, MA on Dec. 31, 1949. When retired, they traveled in their RV visiting friends and relatives across the US until her death on June 6, 1995. Joe is survived by his son, Stephen Vash (Kathy) Snowflake, AZ; daughter, Margo DiDomenico (Tom) Ridgecrest, CA; grand- son, Chris Fiser (Krista) Ramona, CA; grand- daughters, Heather Graves (Elvin) Topeka, KS and Lori Wright, Lake Isabella, CA; and great-grandkids, Mason, Allie, Cianna, Brighton, Zack, Amber, Dustin, Arianna, and Aidan; great-great-grandson, Anthony; plus many nieces and nephews; and his good friend, Josie Duran. A special thank you to his health care nurses, Gina, Maria and Adriana. A Celebration of life will be held Sat., Nov. 29, 2014 at 10am at his grandson's home in Ramona.
