George Marvin Sansing, Sr. was born April 4, 1928 in Leakesville, MS the middle of 5 children of James Earl and Cynthia Chapman Sansing. He spent most of his childhood in Stringer, MS where his parents taught school, he graduated from high school there in 1946. After 2 years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps he returned to Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1952.

He worked as a registered professional engineer for the Bell Telephone Companies and AT&T in Mississippi and Bell Laboratories in New York from 1952 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member, and past president, of the Mississippi chapter of the IEEE. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and retired with the rank of major.

He was very active in his church and community. For many years, as a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church, he served as deacon, Sunday school coordinator, youth chaperone, bus driver, member of the senior adult choir and secretary for the Keenagers. He was elected as a life time deacon in 2011, one of only 6 ever elected by Oak Forest. During his retirement, he was a volunteer worker at Central Mississippi Medical Center, and for a time helped manage the gift shop.

He loved tinkering with electrical projects, babysitting his granddaughter and doing whatever his wife, Noma, needed him to do.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Janie Smith and his brothers, James Earl Sansing and Edward Pierce Sansing.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wynoma Davis Sansing; sons George Marvin Sansing, Jr. (wife Beth) and James Edward "Ed" Sansing; his sister Helen McCarty (husband Melton); his sister-in-law Dorothy Sansing; and his granddaughter Suzanne Catlin (husband Mike) along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Willow Creek Nursing Home and of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center for their care of George in his last days.
