To the family of James Choyce...
I saw the obituary in the paper and could not help but to write and to say how so very sorry my husband and I are for his death. He should not have had to leave this earth so early. A true warrior and we know that he will be at peace now. We are so grateful for his service and we thank the family for everything that they have been through. RIP James...you are not forgotten.

James I can still remember days in school with Kenny, and Sean Reynolds, and Joey thermund like it was weeks ago. I cant believe you are gone but trust me not forgotten.... It breaks my heart the extended family you leave behind I couldnt help but sit here for about a hour and read some of the things that people had to say and smile and cry. Its amazing I havnt seen you in years but WOW I am proud of the life you lived....WHAT A TRUE HERO!!! The day you where laid to rest my daughter was born 7 years ago. I feel previlaged even though it wasnt planned that way that i got to celebrate my daughter living another year as a beautiful angel as we laid a hero and a angel to rest. May you be at rest James and Watch over your family and always know that not only can you watch down on us but we also keep your memory alive each and every day and we watch you walk with our heavenly lord..... RIP HERO JAMES!!

To the Choyce family: James was a wonderful friend in school and within our christian community. I am sure and have no doubt that within the years I have not known him, he also became a wonderful father, husband and friend to many more of the community. I am saddened by your loss and I know he is in a better place. Thank you for sharing such a great person.

Choyce,

You were a great friend to all of us that were new to the unit and we will never forget how you used to make us smile and laugh with all your corky jokes. You were a great asset to Charlie Company 1st of the 187th, nobody will ever be able to replace you in our hearts.

My Dear Nephew,
Today your family and friends will say their final good-byes and share your memories with each other. Unfortunately I can not be there to hug them or comfort them and listen to their stories but I feel their pain. Today I will shed tears as I have done everyday since your passing and try to figure out "why" this happened. This is a question we will all ask over and over again only to know there will never be an answer. You were such a brave man-I'm so sorry for demons you struggled with and the pain you were in. You were loved by so many and our heart is broken but we know you are finally at peace. God Bless You James .

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

Our friendship is like the hands of a clock:
Though we are in the same clock,we are not able to meet
Even if we meet.. It is only for few fleeting moments.
But still our friendship runs non-stop.

We will always be here for you in your time of sorrow.

Such a tragic loss. My heart goes out to the family and friends left behind. One Day there will be no more tears or sadness when you are reunited.

October 10, 2012

I remember so many things but the thing that has been repeating in my mind as I talk to Tommy is the day you showed up to pick him up from school. He was in preK and you and Jessie told me you wanted to pick him up so I wrote the note. He talked about that for days, his hero coming to get him. He remembers all the fun times you had, from playing "Its the Police" to you teaching him how to take down an insurgent, which he put to use one day on the playground. I remember telling you about it and you just looked at him, grinned, picked him up and gave him a high five for doing good. You were and always will be the hero and the favorite uncle of Tommy. You are missed so much. I would give anything to have the "monster bird" back.

Thoughts and memories cannot explain the times that we've spent together. On top of all the energy that you had there was never a moment you didn't stop to give a hug or reassure someone that everything will be ok. James always thought about his friends and family first before anything else. Our childhood is filled with memories of trouble, excitement, and anxiety. I would not have had it any other way. The man you became was nothing short of Great. There is some much I wish I could have said to you in your last days, but I know we'll see each other again. May you always be in our thoughts!
