Pfc. Ryan E. Reed was as serious about his faith as he was about humor. Alicia Reed said her husband''s sense of humor helped her through their time apart, when he was in Iraq. "In bad situations, he would try to make it better by cracking jokes a lot," she said. "He never wanted anyone to be sad." Reed, 20, Colorado Springs, Colo., was killed April 29 in a roadside bombing south of Baghdad. He was based in Baumholder, Germany. Alicia Reed, who met her future husband in high school, said when Reed joined the Army he was looking for a better life and money for college so he could become a teacher. He entered combat a few months later. "He went straight from boot camp to Germany and then Iraq," she said.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Reed Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Ryan E. Reed US Army Private 1st Class. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey...

To the family and friends of Pfc. Ryan E. Reed:

Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.
