Vaughn,
My heart aches for you, you two were such a tandem. Kay is such a wonderful, loving, kind, sweet, person. Memories have swelled in my mind since I heard the news about Kay. I will never forget how excited dad was when you joined him in going to Elko over the fourth of July weekend years ago. You are still a shinning star and mentor to many, may God bless and comfort you in your loss at this difficult time. We love you and your family, and will pray for peace and the comfort and knowledge that Kay is well again. Love to you always.

Kay Alvey is someone that I think of often because she made a lasting impact on my life. She is my favorite Young Women leader that I ever had and I also babysat her boys many times. When Kay and Vaughn came to our ward in Holladay she was made the leader of our Beehive group. We had a big active group and she was really not that much older than us!! She took the time to gather all the girls and "kidnap" us in the early morning hours when it was our birthday and take us to breakfast at Dees in Holladay. The birthday person always had to go in pajamas. Kay always was laughing and giving sincere compliments. She was just so much fun to be around and everyone felt better about themselves when we were in her presence. She is surely going to be missed but will always be remembered for the love that she so freely shared.

We're so sorry for your loss. What a sweet, sweet woman she is, and will be missed by many. She was one of the first people to welcome us to Pepperwood, and helped to make us feel included.

Kirsten, I am so sorry for your loss. She is a beautiful lady. My father also passed away from complications of Inclusion Body Myositis. He faught it courageously as well. He passed away at 70-years-old just about 9 years ago today. My fathers example of courage and perserverance to the end will continualy give me strength as I journey through my own life and face my own challenges. I hope your mother will give you the strength you may need as well. Every once in a while I get suddle reminders that he is still aware of me on this earth, especially during challenging times, no doubt you will to. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Charlie and I were so saddened to hear of Kay's passing. She was the very first person to welcome us, (with cookies, of course), when we moved into Pepperwood. When I think of Kay, I think of a smile; always a smile. When I think of you, Vaughn, I think of complete devotion and the true love of service. You are the perfect couple - now and always. May there be peace in the Alvey home and in your hearts. Simply put, Kay was wonderful! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so sad to hear of Kay's passing. What a beautiful, talented, and loving person she was and what an amazing legacy she leaves behind. I will always remember coming to Alice and Dick's home when I was a child, and loved playing with Kay and Janet. I also remember many fun Taylor Christmas parties at the Alvey home. Unfortunately, we are still in Arizona, but I just wanted to send my love and prayers to Vaughn, Janet, and all her beautiful children, and grandchildren.

It was my great blessing and honor to work with Kay when she was primary president and Vaughn and I served as counselors in the 18th ward bishopric. Kay was one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving people I have ever known.
Vaughn, I love you like a brother and I know what you are going through now but I also know how strong you are both physically and spiritually.
When I heard I came by to see you on Saturday but no one was home I was so sorry that I missed you. I just wanted to give you a big "bear hug"
So thankful for the time that I have known you and Kay. She will be missed by so many. You have a wonderful and loving family and you will all be together again one day Love to all of the Alvey family,

We remember Kay and Vaughn through various sports and Church assignments, but I always remember how inspiring Kay's messages were. She had a strong love for the Lord and it showed in her every action. She was loving and generous and we all loved her. I bet she is running around today, enjoying life!!!

Every young man that knew Kay in the '60s including me loved her at least a little, perhaps because she was beautiful in body, spirit and mind. One of the many times we laughed together came in high school when I called a columbine a concubine and claimed I didn't know what the latter was.

May God bless you, Vaughn, and your wonderful family. Kay was one of those rare souls who lifted and inspired throughout her entire life! What a great reunion you'll have some day.

April 20, 2015

If it hadn't been for Kay, helping me with Mr. Beards English assignments, I would still be repeating 8th grade, at Hillside Jr. High. Growing up, Kay was the "Proverbial" girl next door......she was personable, smart, kind and beautiful. It was a privilege to have known her and enjoy her friendship.
