Carmen Barbosa Obituary
On April 4, 2018, Carmen G. Barbosa passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 97. Carmen was born in Seguin on 9/17/ 1920, to parents Juan and Rosa Garcia. Together with her husband, Johnny Barbosa, they ran Johnnies Grocery on Culebra for 22 years. Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny, her daughter, Mary Helen, and her grandson, John Gutierrez. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Gutierrez, and her sons, Richard and Armando; as well as 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 10, 2018 from 6-9 pm, with rosary at 7pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Mass at 10 am on Wednesday April 11, 2018 at St Matthew Catholic Church on Wurzbach, followed by burial at San Fernando Cemetery II.

I remember my Aunt Carmen fondly. She was always very kind to us children whenever my Mother, Marjorie Barbosa, took us with her for a visit with her, Uncle Johnny and my cousins. May she rest in peace.

When I think of my Grandma Carmen I remember going behind the cash register when I was five to get a piece of candy at the store on Culebra, the fun BBQs out at the ranch, how she would laugh with such gusto and her wonderful cooking especially her tamales. I will miss her and remember the fun times and her laughter.
