Clarence G. Grupe, 83, village of Cleveland resident, went home to his Lord, on Wednesday March 18, 2015, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Center, Sheboygan Falls, with his family at his side. He was born in Centerville on June 11, 1931, the son of the late Herbert and Mabel Grupe. Clarence graduated from Sheboygan Central High School, the Class of 1949. On May 2, 1953, he was united in marriage to Betty J. Rohde at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, and the couple resided in Cleveland. The marriage was blessed with four children. Clarence was employed for 32 years at the Manitowoc Highway Department, retiring 1993. He was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleveland, where he was involved and helped out whenever needed. Clarence was also a past member of the Cleveland Fish and Game and the Melody Makers Dance Club. His interests included listening to Country and Polka music, as well as playing cards with several area card clubs. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, and crafting bridges, fences, benches and just about anything involved with working outdoors; but he loved "making wood". He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Dad had a heart of gold and a good sense of humor.

Clarence is survived by two sons, Tom (Colleen) Grupe and David Grupe and his special friend, Colleen Dunn, both of Cleveland; two daughters, Patti Grupe and her special, friend, Jim Kettler of Cleveland; and Susan (Joe) Suprick of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Amy Grupe and her special friend, Robert Hughes; Josh (Danielle) Grupe; Amber (James) Mann; Jerad (Melissa) Grupe; Caitlyn Grupe (Matt Laabs), Danielle Suprick, and Joey Suprick; one great-grandchild, Ella; one brother, Earl (Carol) Grupe of Minocqua; and two sisters, Caroline (Adolf Koncilja) Wieland of Sheboygan; Joyce (Francis) Lulloff of Cleveland; one sister-in-law, Carol Grupe, two brothers-in-law, Marvin (Gail) Rohde of Sheboygan; Erwin (Doris) Rohde of Branson, MO. Clarence lost the love his life Betty in Sept. 2014 and couldn't wait to be with her again. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Grupe, and in-laws, Willard (Shirley) Rohde, Marion (Norman) Meier, and Janice Rohde.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1255 West Washington Ave., Cleveland. Pastor David Endorf will officiate and burial will follow at St. Johns Graveyard (Kassa Cemetery) in town Centerville. Friends may call at the church on Monday, March 23, 2015, from noon until the hour of service. The Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel of Cleveland is assisting the family with these funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Clarence's name.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Aurora hospice nurses and Home Sweet Home Again caregivers for all of their gracious care and comfort during Dad's last few weeks.
