William J. Orlando, 86
Controller at American Metals, Army captain, enthusiastic traveler and volunteer
William J. Orlando, 86, a Staten Island native, died peacefully at his home in Dongan Hills on June 29, 2016.
William was the son of the late William and Antoinette Orlando, beloved husband of the late Jessie A. Orlando (nee LaCurta), and older brother of the late August W. Orlando.
Mr. Orlando received his bachelor's degree in business from Manhattan College and received a master's degree in business from New York University. He was controller for American Metals for over 40 years. He served as a captain in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the New York Athletic Club and a devoted parishioner at St. Ann's Church. His greatest joy was traveling with his wife, Jessie.
William is survived by his nephews, William, and August Jr. and his wife, Arlene; his grand-nephews, August III and Aiden, and many close cousins.

I met Bill in 1980 and in the brief time that we interacted at AMAX he went out of his way to help me in any way that he could. He left an impression on me that has lasted over 50 years. Rest in peace my friend.

We will miss him. I was Jasper from SI who worked with Bill for many years at American Metal Climax. Bill had a quick wit that was enjoyed by his colleagues. Always fun to be in his company. RIP.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
