SOUTH BEND - Dennis C. Opaczewski, 68, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, in The Milton Home. Dennis was born on January 18, 1948, in South Bend, to Stanley C. and Harriet T. (Klota) Opaczewski, and was a lifelong resident. He had been employed with the Walmart Supercenter in the Indian Ridge Plaza, Mishawaka, Indiana. Dennis is survived by his three sisters, Darlene (Jerry) Andrews of South Bend, Indiana, Gail (Ronald) Ryniak of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Patricia (Jim) Kertai of South Bend, Indiana; his nieces and nephews, Nicholas (Cara) Cernak, Jonathon Cernak, Sarah (Louie) Ruszkowski, Emily Ryniak, Nicole Kertai, Mark Kertai and Luke Kertai; and by his cat, Susie. A Catholic Funeral Service will take place at 12 noon Saturday, December 3, 2016, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Dennis had attended Central High School. He was an Indianapolis Colts, Notre Dame, and Chicago White Sox and Cubs fan. The family would like to thank the staff at The Milton Home for their loving care.
