Carleton Bennett Obituary

Carleton R. Bennett, died peacefully on Sept. 11, after a lengthy illness. He was the loving son of the late Robert and Gertrude (Alexander) Bennett and grew up in Scituate. He was a graduate of Scituate High School, Class of 1955, Tilton Academy Class of 1956, and also attended Northeastern University. Carleton was a member of the Army Honor Guard and was a member of the 101st Airborne in the US Army from 1957-1960. Carleton met Ann Jezard and the two would marry on April 2, 1961 and they raised their children in Brockton and Bridgewater. He worked for over 30 years for the New England Telephone Company. Carl was a member of First Baptist Church of Bridgewater; where he held many position including Treasurer and Deacon. Carl was a gifted singer and a biblical scholar. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Carleton enjoyed visiting New Hampshire every fall with his children and grandchildren. He was the loving husband of Ann L. (Jezard) Bennett of Bridgewater and father of Lynn A. Karlson and her husband Arthur of Bridgewater, Carleton R. Bennett II and his wife Susan of Bridgewater, John S. Bennett and his wife Amy of Raynham, and Matthew A. Bennett of Bridgewater. Loving Grampy of Samantha, Deanna, Jacob, Abigail, Chloe, Christian, Lily, and great-grandfather of Benjamin and Thomas. Brother of Bruce Bennett and his wife Helen and also survived by many other relatives and friends. A funeral home service will be held at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. with a visitation period beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will be held privately.
