Ethel Pearson LEVINE

LEVINE, Ethel Pearson aged 101 years, died on Jan. 25, 2014. Born Dec. 12, 1912, in Brooklyn, NY, to Rachel & Hyman Pearson. She was married to Richard Levine May 30, 1936, until his death Oct. 10, 1995. She graduated from Brooklyn College with her Bachelor's degree in 1933 and received a Master's degree from Bank Street School of Education. She worked as an elementary school teacher and guidance counselor until 1975. At age 50, she began to pursue her passion for tennis and continued playing until the age of 95, after winning several tennis competitions. She loved word games and puzzles including Scrabble, Boggle, cros-swords. She wrote a column for the Sunrise Laker. She was an eternal optimist with boun-dless energy, patience, kindness, compassion, and tolerance. Survived by her children, Sharon Springer (Ira Greenberg), Diane Schank, and Theo Levine; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, dear friends.
