Korryn Whited Obituary
Passed away from a Kor-ragous battle with leukemia on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the age of 20. Korryn was born August 7, 1993 in Houston, TX, daughter of Kenneth J and Kathleen A. Jenkins Whited. Korryn was in her Junior year at the University of Maryland, College Park studying Aerospace Engineering. She also worked as a tutor in the UMD Writing Center. She is an alumni of the College Park Scholars Program-Science, Discovery and the Universe, and loved her Cambridge Community and fellowship of her friends and peers. Korryn will also be remembered by her Snow Hill community family as her spirit will continue to live among her friends and acquaintances. Her positive attitude, warm heart and beautiful smile will never be forgotten. She loved all aspects of life including softball, volleyball, marching band, majorettes, music, books, shopping, social media, photography, camping, summers working at Bayside Skillet and American Eagle, ocean kayaking, the beach and riding in the boat to sandy islands. Korryns two NASA summer internships working at Wallops Island paved her visions toward Aerospace Engineering. Korryn is pre-deceased by her grandmothers Nora Whited and Angela Jenkins. She is survived by her loving parents, Kenneth J. and Kathleen A. Jenkins Whited of Stockton, MD; half brother, Ryan Whited of Rexville, NY; grandparents, Michael and Esther Jenkins of Stockton, MD and Richard and Cecilia Whited of Kalispell, MT; aunts and uncles, Eileen and Bruce Patocka, Nancy Huber, Patti and Bryan Benjamin, Debbie and Ted Condie, Teresa and Randy Isaacs, and Mike and Melissa Jenkins; many cousins and a host of friends. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 5PM-8PM. Korryn's Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10AM with Pastor Scott Lowmaster. She will be laid to rest in her family lot at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY immediately following. There will be an additional memorial service to celebrate Korryn's life at a later date in Snow Hill, MD. In lieu of flowers the family requests those wishing to remember Korryn please consider making a contribution to your local Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I am so sorry for the loss of Korryn. The world was lucky to have her for only 20 short years, but I can see that she brought light and love to everyone who knew her. I know we will all be together again celebrating, but until then, fly high beautiful angel.
