Raymond Cady Obituary
Age 73, of Pine City, passed away Mon Oct. 6, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a long battle with cancer. Born on June 14, 1941 in Elmira, Raymond was the son of the late, Sherman & Margaret Zahorian Cady. A hard worker and good provider, Ray was employed by Upstate Tool Co. as a tool and die maker for many years. His many interests included fishing and hunting, time away at his "Cabin on the Hill", camping and a cold beer with friends, and NASCAR. Surviving is his loving family, wife and companion, Barbara Oxley Higley Cady, Pine City; Ray's children, Debra (Allan) Voorhees, Gillett, PA; and Raymond (Colleen) Cady, Elmira; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Denise (John) Gleckner, Pine City; Lillian (Harold) Reynolds, Pine City; sister-in-law, Shirley Cady, Elmira; step children and their families, Deborah (Tony) Corsaro, Horseheads; and Michael (Angela) Higley, Horseheads. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by a brother, Art Cady; and a nephew, Daniel James Cady. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY 14904 on Sun. Oct.12, 2014 between the hours of 1-3 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to CareFirst or the American Cancer Society in Ray's memory.

Uncle Ray was a good man, always a kind soul who was good to all of us. We will miss him dearly, but know he is in a better place. My favorite memories was going to Chemung Speedway to watch him, Uncle Art, and Red Banfield race. God Bless you Uncle Ray!

My fondest memory of uncle Ray was the first time my daughter Carley met him some 14 years ago. Ray was sitting at our table drinking coffee and Carley walked up to him and crawled up on his lap and said I like you. She was 3 and knew at that age he was very approachable and kind. I will treasure these memories of a great man, kind and loving.

Ray will be sadly missed. he had many friends. We always had a good time at the Tavern where a lot of his friends patronized. He's at peace now in the Lords House.I'll always remember him as a jolly friend. God Bless Mary Ann & Bob Harrison

I remember Ray as we both worked for Mega Tool and Mfg. Corp. He was regarded by my dad Mike Reppard as a friend and excellent tool and die maker. I remember him as a kind person.

Deb, Ray & Barb... I will always remember sitting with Ray on his back porch drinking beer after Allan & I got done building that retaining wall for him at his house. Ray is in my heart & prayers.

It is difficult to let go, but it is consoling to know that we all will be together again, in a better place.
Ray's dad (Sherman) and my mom (Isabelle) were siblings.The Cady's are a great family and I am proud to be a family member.
