ARNOLD CITRIN Obituary

Arnold Citrin Candy broker, 86 Arnold Citrin died on Feb. 6, 2015, in West Orange, N.J. Arnie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1928 and went on to proudly serve his country during the Korean War, enlisting first and later being recalled. He was a partner in the Citrin-Pitoscia Company, a candy brokerage, and was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame in Hershey, Pa. He was a member of the National Confectionery Sales Association for four decades. Arnie was a volunteer for EEIS, where he read to the visually impaired on the radio. He supported many charities, including The Southern Poverty Law Center and Public Television. Arnie was a longtime member of the Manhattan Jewish Center in Brooklyn until he moved to New Jersey and became a member of B'nai Shalom in West Orange. A Zionist, Arnie treasured the time he spent in Israel. His four grandsons delight in the memory of "candy shopping" in the sample room of the Citrin-Pitoscia Company. Arnie was predeceased by his first wife, Estelle Citrin, and his daughter, Hillary Ann Citrin. He is survived by his son, Marc Citrin (Luanne); his wife, Rosalind Citrin; his sister, Toby Reichstein (Ronald); his step-daughters, Rene Paparian (Glenn) and Elise Linden, and his grandsons, Ethan, Jack, Hunter, and Dean. Arnie will be greatly missed by his family, including nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was a genuinely nice guy who was always ready to help someone in need. Rest In Peace, dear beloved, Arnie. Services are private. For shiva details, please call J. L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Cedar Grove at (973) 239-4200, or visit philipapterandson.com.
