Mike was my boss (along with Cletus Borlesch) at Grant's Farm for four summers...1989-92. He was a pleasure to work with and to work for. To this day, his voice, mannerisms, facial expressions, subtle sense of humor, the way he signaled "that's a wrap" to the waiting trains when the guests were gone and the Bauernhof was empty at the end of the day...even his stroll to the employee parking lot with his eyes on the pavement, keys dangling from his finger...every minute detail is a crystal clear picture and a fondly cherished memory when I think of Mike. My condolences to his family and friends...I hope you feel some peace and renewed energy, knowing that Mike touched a lot of people in a wonderful, permanent way, just because he was himself. All the best to each of you.

I came to know Michael through his sister, Diann, who is married to my brother, Don. We ran across each other infrequently over the last several decades or so, the most recent coming on the occasion of my brother's 70th birthday last September. I sat next to Michael for cake and ice cream and we chatted briefly - between mouthfuls - and he discussed the family's upcoming plans for making apple butter shortly afterwards in Indiana. Then, and at all the other occasions that I had the good fortune of seeing him, I met someone who was affable, at ease, humble and sincere. His generally quiet manner belied a fantastic sense of humor. I am certain that he was much more than this to those who knew him better. My condolences to Linda and his family at their loss and my fond wishes that their memory of him will be the source of much joy in the future.

We just heard of Mike's passing and Steve has great memories of working with him as a park ranger years ago. So very sorry for your loss at so young an age. God bless you.
