Mike was my boss (along with Cletus Borlesch) at Grant's Farm for four summers...1989-92. He was a pleasure to work with and to work for. To this day, his voice, mannerisms, facial expressions, subtle sense of humor, the way he signaled "that's a wrap" to the waiting trains when the guests were gone and the Bauernhof was empty at the end of the day...even his stroll to the employee parking lot with his eyes on the pavement, keys dangling from his finger...every minute detail is a crystal...

I came to know Michael through his sister, Diann, who is married to my brother, Don. We ran across each other infrequently over the last several decades or so, the most recent coming on the occasion of my brother's 70th birthday last September. I sat next to Michael for cake and ice cream and we chatted briefly - between mouthfuls - and he discussed the family's upcoming plans for making apple butter shortly afterwards in Indiana. Then, and at all the other occasions that I had the good...

We just heard of Mike's passing and Steve has great memories of working with him as a park ranger years ago. So very sorry for your loss at so young an age. God bless you.
