Dear Amelkin family: We just heard the news and are deeply saddened by the lose of Dean. We are a family just live down the street and my two kids enjoyed seeing him walking dogs, and he always watched the kids patting dogs and called them "big brother" and "little brother". He talked a lot about his family and was very proud of it. He also thanks God whole-heartedly each time we speak. What a peaceful mind. A few weeks ago he was just talking about the loss of another cyclist in Pembroke Pines... No words can express our sadness. We will keep you in our prayers.

I recently met Dean last Fall when I joined the riding group. Although, I just met him, he immediately befriended me and even donated his personal cycling pedals after seeing how I was struggling with the set I previously used.
I will always remember his gratitude and value his friendship. My heart goes out his family.
I still ride with those pedals and will value them in a special way.
