Harry Frisbee Obituary

Harry Andrew Frisbee

Harry Andrew Frisbee was born in Aurora, Illinois on Christmas Day in 1925 and died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at home in Tallahassee, Florida. His parents were Harry E. Frisbee and Ella Adam Frisbee. Raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa and as a child of the Great Depression, he sold family-made tamales on the streets of Council Bluffs, Iowa to help support the family. A Sgt. Military Policeman in the US Army, Harry was drafted in World War II and served for two enlistments. In the late 1940's he and his parents moved to Tallahassee, Florida where he married his wife of 64 years, Theora. He retired from the Tallahassee Post Office after serving as a closing clerk for many years. He was a skilled craftsman and was never afraid to tackle any project no matter how difficult. He could repair anything. Harry very much enjoyed the sport of bowling and the companionship of his bowling buddies, serving in various offices in the Tallahassee Men's Bowling Assn. for over 40 years. He was one of the first inductees into the Tallahassee Bowling Association Hall of Fame. The bowlers will always remember Harry as the fellow who would help out in any bowling situation that needed a solution. He also was quite a square and round dancer for about 25 years, a member of the Capital Squares, Whirlaways, and Quincy Curly Q's, and helped organize many a square dance class. Survivors include his wife Theora Frisbee; daughter Susan Frisbee (Kirk Zinkowski), and sister Fran Toms and her family in Peterboro, Canada. Paul A. Frisbee, Harry's beloved son, fought a courageous battle with cancer and died in 1999. Harry leaves behind many close friends whom he considered to be part of his family.

A Celebration of Harry's life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 4 PM at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd. Friends are invited to stay for a reception immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to the Tallahassee Senior Citizens Center or any other organization of your choice.

Dear Theora & Susan,
I met Harry when I started bowling in 1984. He was instrumental in my becoming a member in the bowling association. He is missed and I know he will show the angles how to bowl, spot style. RIP

When Uncle Harry and Aunt Theora came to Canada to visit their sister Fran, we had such a great time with lots of laughter and memories.
We miss the constant stream of jokes that Uncle Harry would email to us, but I kept all of the emails he sent in the past. He must have spent hours on his computer.
Our love and thoughts are with Aunt Theora and cousin Susan.

I will always cherish the memories of growing up together with my brother Harry. I enjoyed all the visits we had when Harry and Theora came all the way to Canada to visit me. In later years, we visited through skype. I loved Harry and I will dearly miss him. My heart goes out to his wife Theora and his daughter Susan.

We had the pleasure of dropping in for a family visit with Uncle Harry and Aunt Theora twice while traveling in Florida. Larry's mom Frannie, also an avid bowler, often talked of Harry and their younger years. Our love and condolences to Aunt Theora and cousin Susan.

I always remember Harry and his out going personality. I joined the Navy 23 years ago, but knew Harry when I worked at Capital Lanes and bowled in several of his leagues. I will miss Harry.
