Jerry was a classmate & good friend. Few people I have known have the integrity and character that he had.
He will be missed not only by his family, but also his classmates.

Jerry and my dad, Pat Alexander, went to high school, college, and then worked together at TDOT. When I worked downtown, there was never a day that Jerry wasn't kind to me. He was an absolutely wonderful man, and I am so sorry for your loss. May God comfort you all during this terrible time.

Jerry gave me my first job out of college, and served as a valuable mentor and friend for the first half of my career. I am forever endebted to him for that. We were an office of 5, and quickly grew under his leadership. He taught me a lot about engineering, and more about treating people with respect and enjoying each day. He definitely taught me a thing or two about Nashville's best Meat and Three restaurants. Many lunch table conversations have come back into memory with this sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hughes family.
