Marcia Schuster Obituary

Colchester/Boca Raton, Fla. - Marcia Schuster passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, in Niantic.

She was born April 13, 1940 in Hartford, to the late Bernard and Ida Schuster. She lived most of her life in Connecticut and, part time in South Florida.

Marcia touched the lives of many people with her genuine compassion. She worked, raised four children, and always looked to help others. She graduated from Bacon Academy, Colchester, attended nursing school, and was president of her synagogue's sisterhood in Norwalk. Marcia worked for the family business, Schuster's Express, was president of Congregation Ahavath Achim in Colchester for five years, and served a term as mayor of the Borough of Colchester. Her love of family and friends was very deep.

Marcia will forever be remembered by her devoted brother, Marty Schuster of Boca Raton, Fla.; beloved children, Jeffrey and Stephanie Powers of Palm City, Fla., Richard and Elizabeth Powers of Jensen Beach, Fla., Paul and Lisa Powers of Wallingford, and Shari and LeRoy Rodgers of Jupiter, Fla.; treasured grandchildren, Eric Powers, Darryl and Melissa Amadio, Bryan Amadio, Seth Rodgers, and Liam Rodgers; great-granddaughters, Emily, Myah, and Brielle; lifelong friend, Alma Alpert; companion and friend, Lillian Navarrette; along with countless other family and friends.

Her funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Congregation Ahavath Achim Synagogue in Colchester. Interment will follow at the synagogue cemetery.

Donations may be made to Congregation Ahavath Achim Synagogue or the charity of your choice.

Belmont/Sabrowski Funeral Home in Colchester is entrusted with arrangements,

Marcia was such a special person. She was always there to give support and help you out. She touched everyone with loving thoughts and such good sense.
