Gordon Lack Obituary

GORDON L LACK Gordon (Sonny) was born to LeRoy & Ida (Hasz) Lack in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on July 30, 1936, and passed away in Newton, Kansas, on October 25, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family. He was raised in Arkansas City, KS, graduating from Arkansas City High School and then graduating from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. In 1959, Gordon met and married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Turner, in Berlin, New Hampshire. His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ shaped the man he was, being involved in Christian service all of his life. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kathleen Walker. He is survived by his wife and children, Jaye (Tom) Stanko, & Loy (Trisha) Lack, Lansing, Michigan; Veri Stroud, Newton, KS; Lyle (Shannon) Lack, Lon Lack, Casper, Wyoming, & Larry Lack, Port St Lucie, Florida. Sisters Royce Hurst, Arkansas City, KS & Karol McNeil, Hot Springs Village, AR. 13 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, Thursday, October 30th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Newton, KS, at 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, 2025, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Southern Baptist IMB.
