Herbert J. Sonier

BEDFORD - Herbert James Sonier, 84, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2013, with the love and support of his family.

He was born in Everett, Mass., on Nov. 19, 1928, the son of John and Sarah (Black) Sonier. Herb moved to Bedford in 1958. His service in the U.S. Army included time in Iceland, Korea and as an ROTC instructor at Harvard University. Prior to his retirement, Herb worked as a cabinetmaker and then as a parts manager for a local automobile dealership. He then worked for St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Bedford, until his retirement.

Herb is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Dalton) Sonier of Bedford; their three children, Michael Sonier, wife Karen, and their children Megan and Tim of Pennsylvania, Anne-Marie Southwell, husband Kyle, and their children Tori and Kalee of Bedford, and Thomas Sonier of Bedford.

services: Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford. Committal prayers will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
