John Dovey Obituary

Dovey, John 11/08/1946 ~ 05/18/2014 SAN DIEGO, CA -- John was the youngest child of William Sr. and June Dovey. He was a lifelong San Diego resident and graduated from Crawford High School in 1964. John worked in the food industry as a produce manager. When he wasn't working, he was most likely camping with a fishing pole in hand or cruising around the sand dunes in his "little red car". John suffered from cancer and other illnesses for several years without a complaint until ultimately he couldn't hang on any longer. He was a wonderful, gentle man who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his siblings Judy Watkins and William Dovey, Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews all from San Diego.

By accident I found my friend John Dovey passed away three years ago and I'm in shock and I'm crying my family knew john back in 1996 specially my mother that she died in an accident in October 1997 at that me and john we were close friends and I called him when that tragedy happened and he was big support in those moments he used to tell me;"Mario your mom is a beautiful lady" I do remember to go with john to the casinos in Pine Valley and we had a lot fun he was suffering glaucoma and several times I help him to walk because just of the sudden he couldn't see he made mention that his oldest brother was a retired cop I met judy and she was very nice with me and I saw pintures of his niece Laura pretty girl john back in those days he was working in a produce store in San Diego Our moms died almost at the same time his mom in 96' and my mom 97' And I met her through john she was sweet.
Is funny but even I was planning to go and visit john one of these days he was living in an apartment where he used to share with his mother he traveled to Mexicali Mexico several times one day we organized a welcome party for him at back in those he was driving a 1987 blue ford pick up truck.
From now on I'm gonna keep good memories for a man that he was very kind with me and to my family too.
Goodbye john probably one day we gonna see each other again.

I will always remember our times cruising

I remember that John and Ed St John used to pal around together and TRY to avoid trouble. Seems brothers Bill and Frank St John would rescue them. Proud to know John and my thoughts and prayers go to the family. Rest in peace.

We are saddened to read of John's passing. His smile was always a welcome sight as a family friend or the produce manager in local stores. His family was his strength and he gave it all back to them as well. Our thoughts are with the family who have wonderful memories to carry them on. Fondly, Franci and Norm Takvam
