COMBES, TX. -
Albert Burton "Mac" McKim age 87, went to be with the Lord peacefully June 3, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Deloit, Iowa and moved to Texas in 1965, he was a resident of Combes for over 43 years. Mac was a well known political advocate in the Town of Combes; he served as a city alderman and also served as the Chief of Police of Combes. Albert proudly served his country with the United States Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was honorably discharged.
Mac also owned and operated his own auto service garage, "Combes Auto" where he offered various automotive repairs and issued state auto inspection stickers for over 40 years. He enjoyed working on and collecting classic cars and he also enjoyed NASCAR.
He leaves behind to cherish his wonderful memory his wife, Amelia C. McKim of Combes, his children, Nancy Parrish (Larry) of San Benito, Paula Thompson (Eddie) of Moody, TX, Ricky Alcorta (Melissa) of Harlingen, Elsa Alcorta (Michael) of Harlingen, Danny Alcorta of Harlingen and a daughter-in-law, Alexis McKim of Combes, TX. 17 Grandchildren, Sgt. John Parrish, Jerry M. Parrish, Jeffery R. Parrish, Julie St. John, James E. Thompson, Jeanine Thompson, Cathy Thompson, Shelly Navarro, Andrea Solis, Iris R. Alcorta, Ricky R. Alcorta Jr., Emily M. Alcorta, Odilia M. Alcorta, Mark Anthony Alcorta, Krystal J. Almendarez, Ted Almendarez, and Daniel Alcorta Jr.
He is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren, his brother, Paul McKim of CA and numerous nephews and nieces.
Albert is preceded in death by his son, Jack Lee McKim and his first wife, Violet Murial McKim and his parents, Ralph and Pearl H. McKim.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday June 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hincliff of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating with police honors under the auspices of the Harlingen Police Dept.
Inurnment will follow to Harlingen-Combes Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 205 and VFW Post 2410.
Arrangements are under the direction of Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home 1002 East Harrison Ave. Harlingen, Texas 78550.
