10 years, and yet still very alive in our hearts, our daily lives, and in your beautiful store! Never without a smile or words of love when we, or anyone who knew you for even a moment, mentions your name. I keep you in my prayers every day and know that you are in a greater place watching over our family and asking God to bless us and keep us safe every moment of every day!
Love and still miss you,

I often wonder what Billy would be like today- 9 years later.
I like to think he would still be in love with his jewelery store, his family, his friends, and the beach. That he would still tell his outrageous stories- exaggeration and all. That his laughter would still fill a room and draw everyone towards him.
I wish I did not have to wonder... I wish he was here.
Billy is always on my mind and in my heart.

I can´t count the people from my grade school class to people I worked with in other states who still pray for you and tell me how much they miss you in your fabulous store every time they walk in to see your Mom and Dad! Your heart still beats in our lives, and we´ll forever miss and love you....until we all see you in God´s Paradise where I know you are running the show with God´s greatest love!

It´s so hard to believe it´s now been 9 years without you, your love, your contagious laugh, your generosity, your brilliant knowledge of your trade that your customers who became friends and your friends who became customers always trusted and relied on.....but having you in my prayers every day and looking at your portrait in your store keeps you so alive in my heart, and the hearts of your Mom and Dad, your family, and all who have been blessed to know you! December 8, 2021

It was at this time of night, 7 years ago that I found out that Billy had unexpectedly passed away. It is still very unreal to me, even though holidays and vacations with our family are spent without him.
I was in his jewelry store a couple of weeks ago, and I just sat there looking at everything he had designed and decorated. We were reminiscing about all the pictures he had proudly displayed. A female customer interjected her memories of Billy and of the pictures he had chosen for HIS store. I did not know this person, but it made me so happy to know that people still think of him and remember him as I do. He was so loved, and he is so missed. Thoughts of him will always make me smile.

To my brother, Billy, on the 7th anniversary of his passing.

Today is full of memories
of a brother laid to rest
and every single one of them
is filled with happiness

For you were someone special
always such a joy to know
and there was so much pain
when it was time to let you go

That's why this special message
is sent to heaven above
for the angels to take care of you
and give you all my love.

Another year, but not a day goes by that I don´t say a prayer for you, Billy, and know that you have been called to do God´s very important work with your uniquely talented God-given skills that we loved about you here but that you are now blessed to do from a much higher place! There will never be enough words to express how much I, and so many hearts that you touched, miss you and your bright light every single day! We know you are still with us in spirit and feel your presence in every moment! Thank you for watching over all of us and keeping God´s arms around us always!

I always think about Billy at this time of year. I remenber with a smile watching him grow from a boy to a man during the many years I worked for his father Eddie. So many laughs and good times it brings tears to my eyes 6 years since he left us.

"There is never enough time to do or say all the things that we would wish. The thing is to try to do as much as you can in the time that you have." - The Spirit of Christmas Present from Scrooge.

Billy loved the Spirit of Christmas Present, and the entire scene of the Spirit and Scrooge singing, "I like life" is all Billy - bigger than life.

Miss him every day.

The only way to cope with the loss of Billy (6 years without him is unbelievable) is to remember his life and the beautiful, funny memories of him that I keep in my heart and mind. His smile and laughter, his passions and work ethic, his love for his family and his friends. Remembering what made him happy makes me smile. I love and miss Billy. Always.

It's hard to believe it's been 6 years! Billy is still very alive in my thoughts! I do miss seeing him and getting my hug and kiss! Every time I look at the beautiful jewelry creations we made together, I smile and know that Billy is with me! I could go on and on with great and funny stories that we have collected over the years, but I will share the in person with Carol and Eddie and the rest of the family! I keep you in my daily prayers, and always in my heart! Love you and know that you are all around us as our very special Guardian Angel and brightest of lights in all of our lives!

It is so hard to believe it's been 5 years! Through the wonderful relationship with Billy's family - Carol, Ed, Gina and others, Billy is very much present with all of us. Thanks to Billy's open and caring disposition, he has allowed me and my family to be part of the Greenan family and inviting the Greenan family to be an integral part of mine. My cell phone will always light up as "Billy" when calls are made and received. Each time I visit the shop, it makes me smile to see Billy's beautiful picture. While I think of Billy all the time, I still miss his smile, laugh and of course, the kisses and hugs!

December 8, 2019

It's hard to believe it's been five years since we lost Billy. Since his passing, every year on this day, I watch Billy's favorite Christmas movie, Scrooge with Albert Finney. He loved it, and I remember the parts he loved most. I can still see him watching this movie, commenting on different scenes, and laughing. I loved his laugh.

I thought I would share this memory of Billy. Many thanks to those who continue to post. I love hearing how Billy is still in the hearts and minds of so many.

Billy would he so proud of all the love and entries in his Guest Book. I can just hear him bragging and see him smiling, reading all the beautiful entries out loud to us - his captive audience (always).
I love Billy, and it warms my heart to know he was loved by so many people.
Remembering him today and every day.

Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

Priests of the Sacred Heart

I think of you, pray for you, miss you and love you every single day. You were an angel on earth and are an even greater angel among the stars in God's everlasting light watching over us. Your Mom and Dad live with you in their hearts and are taking great care of your friends and customers together every day as lovingly as you did, keeping your incomparable legacy alive. Your customers, too, tell them, and me, how very much they miss your smile, laugh, humor, love, personality, and generosity. We still feel your love all around us, especially at your condo in Ocean City where you are still ever present and walking on the sand, I'm sure! Your presence in your 2nd home is forever evident and we love being there with you, as I'm sure you still know. Missing you won't go away, and life without you isn't the same, but we know you love us still and we trust God's everlasting will. He is your greatest companion. You are always in my prayers and thoughts and you are still with your family and friends in our greatest of moments and memories that God blessed us with by having you in life for 49 wonderful years! I love you to those stars and beyond, Billy.....always have, and always will!

Grief never ends....

It is a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith.
It is the price of love.

On the anniversary of Billy's passing, I want to thank all those who have left comments in Billy's Guest Book. Your comments have given me such comfort, and I am forever grateful. Billy was an extraordinary person who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. I have been and continue to be blessed to call him my brother. I frequently catch myself reflecting on all that we shared over the years, from childhood through adulthood. As these snapshots of memories go through my mind, I remember his voice and wonderful laugh that lit up a room, and my heart aches knowing he is gone. I miss and love you, Billy.

I was shocked to hear of Billy's passing. My condolences goes out to his family. We have purchased our wedding rings with Billy and decided he was our family jeweler. Even after moving to California, we still purchased our jewelry from him. He is truly an amazing person and will be missed deeply.

I was shocked and very saddened to hear the news about Billy. I didnt know him personally but he helped me a lot with picking out my wife's wedding ring. I didnt end up buying the diamond from him but he was very honest/upfront in telling me before I bought it that's a great deal and to go with it. He did however fit my ring together and even allowed my wife to borrow some very expensive jewelry for our wedding day. I'll never forget how kind he was and how passionate he was in his work. He was a very fun, compassionate person from what I knew of him and I will miss our chats when I enter his store.

I just learned of Billy's passing and I am simply stunned. Since I first met him in 1999, when he designed my wife's wedding ring and worked with me on resizing my dad's wedding band for my use, I have looked forward to my visits to the shop. He always was a man who brightened my day. To my former Verizon colleague Kathleen and to the rest of the family, I pray that you will continue to be comforted by the many memories you shared with Billy!

"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they are gone. I guess I just miss my friend." A fitting excerpt from the movie Shawshank Redemption. I simply miss my outrageously funny, sweet, trusting, loving brother. He is always in my heart and in my prayers. On April 26, 2015, I wish him a very Happy 50th Birthday. All My Love, Eileen

Every year when I visit the states I made a visit to Billy. This year when I arrived to the shop he was not there. A family member told me he was dead and I was speechless. I remember Billy so well. Funny, joking, taking time for customers, chatting about golf, travelling, relationships, and more. I am so sad. Billy was a bright light in people's lives. His spirit shines on. May Billy dance and sing and play golf in heaven. You are missed.

Eddie and Carol,
Billy was the brother I never had, and the friend every body wanted. Years back I saw Don L. from Simon G. at the Vegas show. I asked him who was our favorite customer? Within seconds we agreed it was Billy. I think every salesman who knew Billy would say the same thing. Many people, customers, salesmen, and others loved him. Billy was never boring. I sent friends to Billy for engagement rings, all of them loved him. I consider it a privilege to have been his friend.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Greenan & Families

Our hearts are so heavy with grief in the passing of our dear friend Billy. He was such a nice, respectable guy; always had a smile. He always spoke so highly of Lexie. We met Billy in 1987 when he use to bring Lexie to our pool when she was very little. We will so miss seeing him at the store where he did so much for us. When I (Fritzi) would go to the store to pick up something that Aaron and Billy had designed he always gave me a hug and kiss. I will really miss that. Billy you will be missed by so many people but will never be forgotten. Billy you were taken way to soon from us but God must have had something that only you could do for Him. Rest in peace our dear friend and keep watch over us. We loved you for the person you were. The family is in our heart and prayers during this very difficult time for everyone.

He watched my daughters grow and when the time came they needed engagement rings, he treated them like family and, made each of their rings with such attention to detail and special care. They will never forget his generosity on their wedding day either. A true friend, great business man, and personality that will live in our hearts forever but, will surely be missed, I was just in the shop last week and saw him. He had his usual friendly greeting as well as extended greeting to my daughters. There was no other jeweler that knew how to be so kind, considerate, make any occasion special, and any customer committed to coming back. A gifted, friendly, out going man. He will be missed. We are praying for comfort for his family at over this sudden loss.

So, so, so very sad to learn of Billy Greenan's untimely death. An announcement was made in church today to pray for his soul...I kept thinking, please don't let it be the Billy I know... But sure enough, when I looked up the obituary, it was, in fact, Billy Greenan of Greenan's Jewelers in Burtonsville. Billy was one of those unforgettable people who you meet in life--a charismatic, warm-hearted, fun-loving guy who made you feel like you were his most special customer. One in a million. He would light up a room more than the diamonds he was selling.
I still can't get over it.. He definitely knew his stuff when it came to jewelry and always gave you a great deal. I hadn't bought any jewelry of consequence in quite a few years, yet he still treated me as if I had just purchased a 3 carat sapphire--even when I would go to the store for watch batteries or soldering for a necklace, etc. Rest in Peace, dear friend. You will be so very missed by all who knew you.

To Uncle Eddie, Aunt Carol, Eddie, Jr., Kathleen and Eileen, our heartfelt sorrow for the loss of your son and brother Billy, from James, Kristen, Avery, Ainsley, Mason and Leyton. Some of my fondest and happiest memories start with the many sleepovers with Billy and Eddie at the College Park and Potomac homes. Fortunately for me we continued to make memories through grade school, high school, college and beyond. Billy was not only a very close cousin but one of my very best friends and I will always remember the good times we shared. May he rest in Peace.
