FRANK HEWITT Obituary

HEWITT FRANK LEE HEWITT, III (Age 75) "Jim" Of Bethesda, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017 surrounded by his family. Jim was born on June 28, 1941, in Washington, DC. His parents were Frank L. Hewitt Jr. and Mildred West Hewitt. He grew up in Silver Spring, MD and attended St. Bernadette's grade school as well as St. John's La Salle Forest Glen (St. John the Evangelist). He graduated from St. John's College High School in 1959. Jim had a successful business career. In the 1960's, he was President of Hewitt Construction Company and was responsible for land development and residential construction in Montgomery and Frederick counties. In 1969 he began his banking career as Branch Manager at Laurel Building Association. He worked his way up to Vice President of Lending and was President of Laurel Federal Savings Bank for ten years from 1985 to 1995. Jim served on the boards at FCNB Bank from 1996-2000 and Suburban Federal Savings Bank from 2001 until 2009. He had a reputation as an honest businessman whose word was his bond. Jim had a lifelong passion for golf and was an excellent player. He learned the game as a young boy, played on his high school golf team, and spent many afternoons on the links with his golfing buddies. He was a lifelong member of Congressional Country Club where he enjoyed golf, hosting parties, and socializing. His love for golf was surpassed only by his love for his family. Every summer Jim took his wife, kids, and grandkids for a vacation to the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, an oasis for the entire family. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Hewitt; his three children, PeggyAnne Olson (Doug), Sharon Amy Celeste (Tony) and Corey Lee Weible (Ric); and by his eight grandchildren, Andrea, Jack, Thomas, TJ, Kate, Gracie, Colton and Ridgely. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Balderson; in addition to many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother, Wesley Hewitt. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West (Valet Parking), on Thursday, February 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, February 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, MD, will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 12 noon. Jimbo,as Roy LESTER always referred to him,was Roy's dearest friend.Roy doesn't
have E-mail so I am signing the Guest Book for him...Jimbo had a big heart so everyone who knew him, also admired him for his loyalty and integrity. His family
and Roy's family go way back, to living
at The Manor Club. They became more like
family than friends. And, Jim, Judy and the girls will always be so special in the hearts and minds of the Lesters.....
I only met Jim, Judy and the girls and
their families,a few years ago. It was my good fortune to get to know them and see their goodness and share Jim's love of family and friends.Jim's kindness and
spirituality were evident to me, the very first time Roy introduced us.
GOD BLESS JIM, as he is surely, "Safely
Home" Now in his Eternal Life.

I met Jim while working for Bill Steed at Home Mortgage Center, Inc. He was a great banker, business man and a friend. Bill and I had lunch with Jim at one of his special seafood restaurants in Laurel many times - one time he took a lot of us on a hay ride to one of the baseball games; he was a fun guy and a gentlemen that will surely be missed - Rest in Peace, Jim and many prayers are being sent for Jim's family.

Judy and children, sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We had some good times while Jim attended U of Maryland. I remember the 59 Impala that we drove to NYC to see his father one night. A very good man.
