I recall a Mr. Aument who taught 7th grade World Geography at Montgomery Hills Jr Hi in 1954. He was one of my favorite teachers. I remember him fondly as he exhibited kindness, patience, and a sense of humor. He gave us the same assignment at the beginning of the school year and at the end. We drew from memory a picture of our concept of the world. When we drew the second picture of the world at the end of the year, we compared it with the one drawn at the beginning of the year. This showed us how much we had learned about the position and shapes of the continents, islands, oceans and seas in the world.

To the family of Mr. George Aument. I had a teacher in Montgomery Hills Jr. High School in Silver Spring, MD in the late 1950's named George Aument. All Mr. Aument's students loved him as a teacher - and in fact many of us nominated Mr. Aument in a Washington Post "favorite teacher" contest in 1958. There is a Washington Post newspaper article from March 9, 1958, mentioning Mr. Aument as one of the nominees. Especially if this is your family member, I send you all my most sincere sympathy on his passing.

Martin,
I enjoyed talking to your Dad at the lake, and it is clear to me that your father has led a full and fruitful life with no regrets, and that you and Helen have provided great comfort to him. My best to you and your family during these difficult but inevitable times.
