I will always remember Jim's many kindnesses and thoughtful and caring ways, especially to those in need. He was a man who gave and gave and gave until there was nothing left to give. I guess that's why the Lord called him home: he gave his all.
And how can you forget Jim's love of walking? I can still see him in his Redskins jacket and hat walking on Old Keene Mill Road heading to Nativity Church to attend the Saturday morning mass, especially on those bitterly cold mornings. He inspired me to press on. And in some ways, it has lead me to CA for this time and season to try to help my family.
I will miss you Jim. Please pray for us as we pray for you. Your friend, Ray Madden

I bring you all greetings in the name of our Risen Lord at this time, as you mourn the loss of your beloved one, Jim Scott. Please remember that his soul is resting with the Lord, and it is well with his soul, it is well!
Jim was a member of Olivet Episcopal Church, where I belong, and he was very active in the Lay Eucharistic Ministry and was also a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, Olivet Chapter until he left Olivet.
After our transition period at Olivet, when we called in our current Rector, Rev. Dr. David S. Harper, Jim and his then wife, Patricia hosted our very first transition committee meeting which gave birth to our men's ministry at Olivet which later developed into a brotherhood of St. Andrew Chapter.
Jim was responsible for scheduling the Server's for fulfilling their assigned monthly roles until he left Olivet.
Even after he left Olivet, he was able to join our Mission Team of 8 members of Olivet including our Rector and I,when we embarked on a one week Mission trip to Iowa, from 06/21/09 to 06/27/09, to help victims who had suffered in the flooding. I have also on a few occasions, attended mass with him at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, a few blocks from our Church, Olivet.
We are thankful to God, for the life that Jim lived, for the lives he touched, and for all he was able to achieve. We are also thankful to God for bringing Jim into our lives. The Lord gave and the Lord taketh away, and blessed be the name of the Lord. May his soul and those of the faithful departed, rest in perfect peace. Amen!

Jim was a faithful Kairos brother, always attending the weekends, giving his time and presence. I rode with Jim a number of times to the prison. I could tell it was a hardship for him, but he never complained. He always was cheerful and optomistic. I will always remember him. May God bless his family and friends. We will miss him.

I played weekly indoor tennis with Jim for a few years and always looked forward to our matches. He was an excellent player who always had a kind word for both his team mates and opponents. Jim also did voluntary seasonal tax work and we conversed often as I also do tax work. He will surely be missed.

The wisdom I received from Jim by just talking to him was worth his weight in gold. I will truly miss him.

Mr. Scott lived with us over the last eight years, was part of our family, and is deeply missed. He was a source of comfort and calm stability; a dependable, pleasant and gentle man. The girls looked up to him and the fine example he set with his work ethic and numerous volunteer efforts. Mr. Scott was very giving and asked little to nothing of others in return. He was loved very much.

Jim's experience as coach of youth soccer and volleyball reflected his belief in training people to think and contribute as a team. At KAIROS prison ministry he said and showed that his support of the men at Buckingham Correctional Center was deeply meaningful to him and obviously to the men since they kept coming to him for advice. His faithful support of those who were homebound sick and needed the Eucharist was a model for others. He brought food through Meals on Wheels and considered it a very high priority of his life. He was always "going out" to others as a representative of God's Love. Even his answering machine was a prayer..."And may God bless you with a beautiful day."
