Jim, we met you later in your life...you were already a great professional & personal success. We, by luck, came to the D.C. area for a job at the N.E.I., of the N.I.H. and, through our mutual volunteering in community musical groups - met.
You & your co-conspirator, Anne are the kind of people that enrich the lives of others; through your joyful, selfless participation in so many activities: our local music scene, government, nature center Croyden Creek, the Wildlife Sociefy, various professional societies, etc.
When we send you off with a final thought it will be of your great zest for life. We will miss you; but are glad we know you both.

Jimmy had a great sense of humor, always smiling. A Damon Runyon type guy. Held court in front of Jacks candy store on the corner of Vermilyea Ave and Academy Street in Inwood upper Manhattan NYC.

Jimmy was the lead cousin as we grew up in the same building on Vermilyea Avenue on Manhattan's upper west side. A great mix of hard working New Yorkers, mostly Irish and Jewish. Everyone got along and stickball and punchball were major activities. Jimmy and I headed to Riverdale on the L train to Manhattan Prep. He eased into Manhattan College. Ran Cross Country. Worked at the A & P. Got everyone on the block a job there. Then to success with a doctorate in chemistry. A unique career path for an Inwood guy. He treasured his three daughters and his dear wife. Anne.. Simply put, a life well lived. He was the real deal!

VOur mothers were sisters, our fathers were best friends. We grew up in the same building. So many happy memorie of Jimmy, but most of all the ceaseless laughter, parties, singing. Jimmy singing High Noon. He was a funny, wonderful guy.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
