JAMES R. HENKEL, JR. "Bob" (Age 90)
On Wednesday, January 7, 2015, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Howell Henkel; father of Geraldine "Geri" Markling, James R. Henkel, III, Kenneth H. Henkel and Daniel G. "Bud" Henkel. Also survived by dear friend Poi Yee, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, January 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated at Church of the Atonement, 10613 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902, on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 12 p.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. Bob was a dear friend that went to the same church as me. We often sat together near the front. I'm 98 and haven't been in quite a while now and just now am hearing he passed. Truly a gentle, kind man. We will all miss him.

Sorry I can't be there to lend my support in your sorrow. Bob was such a great guy. He was, also, a member that great generation that saved the USA during WWII in the U. S. Navy as a carrier pilot. I'll really miss talking to him.

Bob and I worked very closely together back in 1983 when C&P was closing shop! We also used to chat frequently via ham radio. We have been regular correspondents since retirement via e-mail. I will miss Bob! He was a good person!
