On Saturday March 12, 2016 of Hyattsville MD. Beloved husband of the late Doris Horne; father of Gary Horne (Christine), Christopher Horne (Marti); grandfather of Eric Horne (Logan), Meredith Huebner (Robert), Matthew Horne (Jana), Joshua Horne (Deirdre), Elizabeth Hickman (Andrew), Melissa Horne, and the late Benjamin Horne and Jonathan Horne; Great-Grandfather of Helena Horne, James Horne, Max Horne, Isabelle Horne, Lily Horne, Sally Horne, Jack Horne, Dominic Horne, Samuel Huebner, Timothy Horne, Thomas Horne, Gabriel Horne, James Huebner, Rose Horne and Philomena Hickman; brother of Virginia Powers, Elaine Schulz, Carolyn Horne and the late Robert Horne. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, 20901 (Valet Parking), on Wednesday, March 16 , from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3799 East-West Highway, Hyattsville, MD, 20782 on Thursday, March 17, at 11 a.m. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. We will miss this true gentleman. He was always joyful, interested, and interesting. His note to my mother upon the death of my father was cherished by her and kept on her dresser until the day she, too, died. We will miss his corny jokes, friendly demeanor, and wonderful Christian example. His devotion to and care of his wife, Doris, was a beautiful thing to behold. We'll miss Guido.

Jack was one of my models and mentors when I was young. Through him I realized that you could be fun, explore, do science in your spare time, create art using things on hand and without going to art school, and be a kind and loving man at the same time.
