MARY FRANCIS HOAGLAND "Fran"  
Mary Francis (Fran) Hoagland (nee Clifton) was born on a farm in Texas on the 20th of April 1927 and passed away at her residence in Hagerstown, MD on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. She graduated from Saltillo High School in 1945. She had several jobs in Texas after school and in 1947 she and a few friends came to Washington, DC to work and see the nation's capital. She got a job at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) which was called CIG when she was hired. She met her husband (the late Paul Victor Hoagland who died in 1970) there and was married in 1948 on February 21 at St. Stephens Church in Washington, DC She quit working after her first 2 children. In the early 1950's, she, her husband and family spent 2½ years in Saipan in the South Pacific and returned to the Washington, DC area in 1955. After her husband's passing in 1970, Fran went back to work at the CIA and retired in 1989. She and her husband had 10 children, Michael P. Hoagland (Joseph Kolb), Joseph P. Hoagland (Dena Clayton), James M. Hoagland (Kup), John T. Hoagland (Cynthia Beard), Barbara A. Smith (died in 2004) (Charles), Patricia A. Garner, Paul R. Hoagland (Karen), Mary L. Cesare (Robert), Rita M. Stinnett (Curt) and Patrick D. Hoagland. She had 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Alice Phillips of Amarillo, TX.There will be a viewing on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Collins Funeral Home (Valet Parking), 500 University Blvd. W., Silver Spring, MD from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and a Funeral Mass at St. Catherine Laboure Church, Veirs Mill and Claridge Roads, Wheaton, MD on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hospice of Washington County, Inc., 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
