Robert E. Elwood, Sr. (Age 88)
On Thursday, September 10, 2015, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband for 60 years of the late Irene G. Elwood; father of Robert E. (Brenda) Elwood, Jr., Daniel T. Elwood, and Nancy E. (Jerrold) Van Winter; brother of the late Babe, Billy, Jack, Louise, Mickey and Peggy; grandfather of Zachary, Hillary, Sarah, Caitlin, Nicholas, and Kyle. Also survived by two great grandchildren, Clementine and Tavish. Born and raised in Washington DC in the Irish neighborhood of Swampoodle. Attended Gonzaga High School and worked in the printing industry with Merkle Press and Kelly Press. Proud member of the Knights of Columbus and Veteran of the United States Navy. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, September 13, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 12319 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad.
May be it comforting to know he is with the love of his life. and know that nothing was worth more than his family and friends. I was so glad to be a part of the family for 16 years
with Jody also caring the Elwood name. Could mean no more than words could ever say.I will always hold all the memories dear to my heart with the Elwood family and Nicholson Street.Just know that God will be with you and give you strength to get though this as he has given you times before.
